In designing the WestWay facility, Moody Neuro drew upon its close to 30 years of experience as an innovator in the field of brain injury rehabilitation to create a program where we would feel comfortable having our loved ones reside. In doing so, we created an environment that replicates a home environment for our patients with acquired or traumatic brain injury.
In keeping with Moody Neuro’s mission of providing patients with highly-specialized, personalized care required to re-enter the community and maximize quality of life, we developed a program aimed at reducing medical recidivism, increasing functional skills, and involving patients in the community as often as possible. Moody Neuro at WestWay is only minutes from Moody Neuro in Lubbock, University Medical Center, and a myriad of other community activities. Its central location provides residents direct access to the community and the resources it has to offer.
Moody Neuro at WestWay employs the most current, evidenced-based practices in order to provide the very best in care and programming to the residents. Residents receive individualized programming, one-to-one time with staff, access to the community and opportunities to be productive, including volunteer opportunities and on-site activities.
Moody Neuro at WestWay staff are specialized in brain injury treatment and rehabilitation and have a thorough understanding of the cognitive and physical needs of individuals with acquired brain injury. Get to know the Moody Neuro at WestWay team.
Brain injury presents unique problems for individuals in the area of leisure activity. Often, persons with brain injury experience isolation and a sense of loss. Therapeutic Recreation works with patients to achieve a healthy leisure lifestyle using safe, productive ways to spend their time in order to make life more fulfilling and rewarding. Patients are assisted with structuring their leisure time in order to maintain or improve their quality of life.
Patients are seen in a community setting on a weekly basis, where their skills such as social interactions, cognitive functioning, initiation and functional ability in the community can be assessed in the context of leisure activity. Aquatic therapy is utilized weekly and offers patients an opportunity to recreate in a group setting while at the same time they are addressing therapeutic activities such as stretching, mobility, range of motion, socialization and endurance.Onsite Tour
